2008 Ridership Results by Service Option:
In 2008, 199,000 passenger trips were made possible through BCRTA general public transportation and brokerage services:
Park-and-Ride: Under contract with SORTA/Metro, RTA provided an estimated 725 trips per weekday (186,000 trips per year) to/from Butler County and downtown Cincinnati, primarily for employment purposes.
Shopping Shuttles: BCRTA offers Hamilton and Fairfield residents and visitors opportunities to access various shopping locations by reserving a trip on the BCRTA Shopping Shuttle. Weekday schedules vary based upon demand, and customers enjoy convenient pick-up and drop-off locations as well as affordable fares. In 2008, BCRTA provided approximately 7,500 passenger trips on its Shopping Shuttles; 1,500 more trips than provided in 2007.
Medical Shuttle: BCRTA was awarded a 2-year grant to operate a weekday medical shuttle, targeted for non-emergency medical trips in the southeastern portion of Butler County. The shuttle began in September 2008, operating door-to-door service based on real-time requests/dispatching and advance reservations. The service addresses an identified need for affordable trips to medical appointments, pharmacies, hospitals, and specialized medical centers in Butler County. In December 2008, BCRTA provided 288 medical shuttle trips (over 900 trips since September 2008).
On-Demand, Curb-to-Curb Services: BCRTA provides on-demand, curb-to-curb, wheelchair accessible services within Butler County and limited areas across county lines. These services are open to the general public. Passenger fares are based on the zone of service and the number of passengers making the same trip. Pre-arranged group trips are offered at affordable fares. In 2008, BCRTA provided over 3,800 on-demand trips.
Contracted Brokerage Services: BCRTA began providing contracted brokerage services in October 2008, wherein BCRTA works with local private transportation providers to offer its clients competitively-priced trip alternatives. BCRTA is brokering over 400 privately provided trips per month.
