WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) announced that the Department of Transportation’s (DOT) Federal Transit Administration (FTA) has awarded $2,000,000 to the Butler County Regional Transit Authority (BCRTA) through its Buses and Bus Facilities Program to develop a multimodal facility in Oxford. The funding, through cooperation between Miami University, the City of Oxford, and the Talawanda School District, would improve regional transportation infrastructure and facilitate the development of low-cost transportation options.

“The Butler County RTA provides necessary travel to Oxford residents, and through cooperation with the City of Oxford and Miami University, this additional investment will help improve the local bus system for riders,” said Brown

The project is funded by DOT’s Buses and Bus Facilities competitive grant program, which Brown secured in a multi-year transportation bill signed into law in 2015.  Brown – who serves as the ranking member of the U.S. Senate Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs Committee, which oversees DOT’s Federal Transit Administration – has championed federal investment to modernize bus facilities and replace outdated buses.”
