BCRTA Reduces CincyLink Commuter Fares to $3 per Trip Starting January 19, 2026

January 12, 2026

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: January 12, 2026, The Butler County Regional Transit Authority (BCRTA) is reducing fares on the CincyLink Commuter Service, lowering the per-trip cost from $5 one-way to $3 one-way. The move is designed to encourage more commuters to try CincyLink, especially as many larger companies are requiring employees to return to the office five days a week.

“Commuting shouldn’t be stressful or expensive,” said Shawn Cowan, Director of Customer Care and Public Engagement, BCRTA. “CincyLink gives workers the gift of time — whether catching up on work using free Wi-Fi, taking a nap, or enjoying a show, riders can avoid traffic and arrive refreshed.”

CincyLink offers a cashless system via the EZFare app, including fare capping. Riders simply load funds into the “Tap and Ride” feature and scan the barcode when boarding. Once the $120 monthly pass cost is reached within a 30-day period, the system automatically applies the monthly pass for the remainder of the month.

CincyLink provides a comfortable, stylish commuting experience with high-back seats, charging stations, and free Wi-Fi. Two convenient Park & Ride locations are available: Meijer in Middletown and Meijer on Tylersville Road. Given the costs of gas, parking, and vehicle wear and tear, CincyLink is an affordable, efficient alternative for daily commuting.

The service provides direct routes to Downtown Cincinnati and Uptown, making it a convenient option for University of Cincinnati students and for employees or residents traveling to the hospitals along Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.
