Campaign shares riders’ stories and the impact of public transportation on their lives
HAMILTON, OH — Butler County Regional Transit Authority (BCRTA) received a 2026 AdWheel Grand Award from the American Public Transportation Association (APTA) for its “More Than a Ride” campaign in the Best Marketing and Communications Educational Initiative category.
APTA recognized BCRTA among the “best of the best” in public transportation marketing and communications during its annual TRANSform & EXPO in Chicago. BCRTA’s campaign was one of 15 Grand Award winners selected from 360 entries through two rounds of judging by industry experts.
“More Than a Ride” puts BCRTA riders’ stories at the center of the conversation, showing how public transportation helps people reach opportunities, maintain their independence, and stay connected to their communities. Through their own words and experiences, riders illustrate why transit is more than a trip from one place to another.
“This recognition is especially meaningful because our riders are at the heart of this campaign,” said Shawn Cowan, Director of Customer Care and Public Engagement for BCRTA. “We are grateful to everyone who gave their time to share their story and help others understand the impact public transportation has on their lives.”
BCRTA thanks its agency partner, Hunter Marketing, for its creativity and collaboration in bringing “More Than a Ride” to life. A very special thank-you goes to the riders who participated. Their willingness to share their experiences made the campaign possible and helped tell the story of public transportation’s value in Butler County.
The AdWheel Awards recognize APTA member organizations whose marketing, communications, and customer experience efforts advance organizational goals and strengthen connections with the communities they serve.
