Workforce Transit Route Planned to Connect Region
September 10, 2018
September 10, 2018 (Middletown, OH) – A joint effort between City of Middletown, Atrium Medical Center, City of Monroe, and Butler County Regional Transit Authority (BCRTA) to connect people within the region to available jobs kicks off on Tuesday, September 11 with the addition of the WorkLink bus route.
The route, which will connect Dayton and Cincinnati, is the first public transit connection between Greater Dayton RTA, BCRTA and Southwest Ohio Regional Transit Authority. “The WorkLink route really showcases the region coming together to connect the available workforce with the open positions in the area, particularly in Middletown and Monroe,” said Middletown economic development director Jennifer Ekey.
With eight stops, the route will run six days per week and cover all three work shifts at $2 per ride. “BCRTA is excited to help our communities support workers and business by connecting Butler, Hamilton, Montgomery, and Warren counties with public transit along the I-75 growth corridor. We’re proud of this partnership and look forward to expanding opportunities like this to create seamless transportation options for workers in our region,” said BCRTA executive director Matthew Dutkevicz.
Atrium Medical Center, located in Middletown, will have a stop on the new R7 WorkLink route. “This project is an exciting new opportunity to continue to evolve public transportation along the Interstate 75 corridor,” said Michael Uhl, president of Atrium Medical Center. “This enhancement will allow for new access possibilities for both patients and for the work force.”
“Our goal was to create a system that is user friendly for employees and an effective recruitment tool for employers,” said Monroe Assistant to the City Manager Jennifer Patterson. “Providing better access to jobs is an important part of creating a more connected region.”
Future additions to the route are expected to be announced as a broader group of public and private partners continue to build regional transportation solutions.
