BCRTA Implements New & Improved Real-Time Tracking Systems

October 15, 2021

BCRTA is excited to begin implementing a new and upgraded Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) and Automatic Vehicle Location (AVL) system as part of ongoing efforts to create a robust Intelligent Transportation System (ITS).

As part of the improvements, passengers will enjoy improved onboard audio announcements, more precise bus tracking, and informational onboard displays. Although Buztrakr.com will be transitioned to the new system, the Buztrakr mobile app for iOS and Android will be discontinued by yearend. BCRTA encourages riders looking for mobile apps to use the Transit app. As part of the new system, Transit will begin to feature live crowding and capacity information later this year with the help of automatic onboard passenger counters.

The system will also permit live video monitoring by our dispatch center for improved safety and communication with our passengers and staff.

Due to the transition of systems, some passengers may experience trouble tracking their bus or route throughout October and early November while vehicles are outfitted with the new equipment and the new system is brought online. Please continue to contact our customer service center with questions if you experience difficulty or would like more information about this transition.

Thank you for your patience as we improve public transit in Butler County!

Thanks to BCRTA’s new ITS partners GMV Syncromatics and Optibus.
