August 18, 2025
Oxford, OH – The Butler County Regional Transit Authority (BCRTA) is rolling out exciting service changes on August 18, 2025, when buses start rolling out of the new Chestnut Street Station transit hub in Oxford. These updates will improve efficiency, add new destinations, and make it even easier for riders to travel around Miami University, the City of Oxford, and the region.
Key Changes Coming August 18:
- New Chestnut Street Station Hub
All Oxford-area routes will now pulse in and out of the new Chestnut Street Station, located at 97 W Chestnut Street, providing a central connection point for students, staff, and residents. - Route Names and Design
Former “U” (University) routes will now be known as “O” (Oxford) routes. These new “O” routes will run bidirectionally rather than in a one-way loop, reducing travel times and improving service efficiency. - Expanded Destinations
O routes will include new stops for better access to the Farmer School of Business, off-campus student housing, and other key destinations. - R3 Regional Service
Regional riders will see updates to the Oxford–Forest Park R3 route:- New early start time at 4:25 a.m.
- Earlier end time at 9:50 p.m.
- Additional stops on Southpoint Pkwy.
- Updated SafeRide Hours
SafeRide will now operate:- Sunday–Thursday: 10:00 p.m.–1:00 a.m.
- Friday–Saturday: 10:00 p.m.–3:00 a.m.
On-demand SafeRide trips can be scheduled through the BCRTA BGo app.

“These improvements have been in planning for several years,” said Shawn Cowan, Director of Customer Care and Public Engagement. “The opening of the Chestnut Street Station marks an exciting new era for public transportation in Oxford and the region.”
The changes take effect on August 18, one week before the fall semester begins. BCRTA ambassadors will be on campus during the first week of classes to assist riders with the transition.
